About the Executive Committee
The day to day operations of the Association are carried out by the Executive Committee which consists of its duly elected officers and the immediate Past President of the Association. The President is the chief executive of the Association and chairs the Executive Committee, which governs the activities of the Association.

Dr. Leslie Hobert McLean, simply Les
or Doc
to those close to him, grew up in Florida, and currently lives in Delaware. Less became President of CMAUS in 2018.
Les earned his doctorate at Vanderbilt University and spent most of his career in independent education. He has been Headmaster of four schools; and currently teaches in Wilmington, Delaware.
Les McLean is passionate about his family, soccer, sailing, skiing, the outdoors, and everything Scottish.
At the 2003 Grandfather Mountain Games, Les approached a crowd near a Maclean banner. He was stopped by a gentleman with a staff and quach who said, “this is a private party… and you have just been invited!” That gentleman, former President Clarence Greek.
Vice President
Jason Wamsley
Functions in in place of the President in his absence with the advice and consent of the Executive Committee.
Jason Wamsley lives in SW Virginia and works at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, where he earned a BS in Computer Science. He completed the the New York Institute of Photography program. He and his wife run a successful wedding and commercial photography business in addition to their regular jobs.
Jason discovered his Maclean heritage after a DNA test revealed his Scottish ancestry; further genealogical research uncovered great-grandparents he never knew about.
Jason and his beautiful bride, Heather, have 3 children. He is a Freemason and Shriner, where he is a piper with the Jericho Highlanders. Jason is known as the guy in a kilt around campus and loves sharing his knowledge of Scottish history and culture.

Jennifer McLean
Conducts the association’s correspondence, keeps the minutes and register of members in addition to publishing the resolutions.
In 2011, I traveled for the first time with my dad all around Scotland. When we got to the Isle of Mull and I saw Duart Castle, I instantly fell in love with the castle and all things Scottish!
As a librarian, I have spent lots of time researching my family history as well as locating books on Maclean history. I have dated my Maclean ancestors back to Jura, Scotland in the
mid 1600’s. Jura is now on my bucket list, and I hope to visit this island someday
I live in Raleigh, NC with my husband, David. We have two dogs and two cats. We enjoy traveling and spending time in the NC mountains!
I’m honored to serve as the Secretary for CMAUS and proud of my Scottish heritage!

Chairs the Finance Committee, oversees all capital assets of the association, conducts financial transactions and record keeping.
Connie Sutton became involved in Clan Maclean at the urging of her sister, Betsy McLean and her late mother, Patricia Mills McLean. She takes great pride in the many Best Tent awards won at highland games.
Connie is an accomplished crafter and seamstress. She won the 2007 “Best in Show” ribbon as well as first place “Blue Ribbon” at the North Carolina State Fair for the wedding dress
she made to surprise Johnnie McLean for the renewal of vows at Duart Castle. She also won a “Blue Ribbon” for a jacket she made for herself in Duart Dress Red Tartan.
In addition to her duties as Treasurer, Connie is also the Deputy Convener for North Carolina with her sister, Betsy McLean Convener for North Carolina.

Rt Rev. Patrick McLean, OSSP
Chairs the Nominating Committee, serves as a member of the Executive Committee.
Abbot Patrick Maclean lives in Littleton, Colorado with his wife, Laura, and their dogs. He earned an MA from the University of Southern Mississippi, and post-graduate work the University of Colorado.
A member since 1977, Abbot Maclean served in many capacities, including President 2012-2017. He also served as President of Clan Maclean International 2017-2019.
Descended from the Macleans of Ardgour, Abbot Maclean is an avid historian. Abbot Maclean was awarded three knighthoods for his work in the Scottish-American community.
Abbot Maclean is an ordained priest , and was elected Abbot of the Order of St Stephen the Protomartyr. He serves as Chancellor of the United Episcopal Church of North America, advising on Canon Law matters.
