A New Charity Whisky From Charlie MacLean Commemorates An Atlantic Rowing Record

A trio of Scottish brothers have teamed up with their father, world renowned Scotch whisky expert Charles MacLean, to create a one of a kind Scotch malt whisky in order to save lives in Madagascar. Six months ago, today, Ewan (28), Jamie (26) and Lachlan MacLean (22) became the first three brothers to row any ocean, the youngest trio and the fastest trio to ever row the Atlantic. To commemorate the event and to raise money for Argyll-based charity Feedback Madagascar to drill water wells in Madagascar, the three brothers worked with MacLean and famed Whyte & Mackay master blender Richard Paterson to blend and bottle two limited-edition whiskies: Pillage and Spillage.

2020 Virtual Gathering & Annual General Meeting

The summer games may be canceled but Clan Maclean will press on. Instead of gathering at Grandfather Mountain this July, Clan Maclean will be hosting a Virtual Clan Gathering on Saturday, July 11 from 2:00-4:00 EDT. The event will be streamed live on our website and may also be viewed live on Facebook or YouTube and is open to all.

Merilee McLean wins Teacher of the Week

Teachers, especially public education teachers, never receive enough recognition, which is why I chose to share this particular article.


CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - WITN's Teacher of the Week for June 24 is Merilee McLean, a fifth grade math teacher at Roger Bell New Tech Academy in Craven County.  McLean has been teaching in Havelock for the past four years. Before that, she had a lengthy and versatile career teaching in Minnesota, California and for the Department of Defense in Okinawa, Japan.
