BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — The prospect some Mets fans have dubbed “Cowboy Ohtani” is advancing in his journey to the big leagues as he’s been promoted to Double-A Binghamton, the team announced Sunday.

McLean, a 2023 91st-overall selection by the Mets out of Oklahoma State University, was heating up on the mound as well as in the batters box for High-A Brooklyn prior to the promotion.

Over his last five starts for the Cyclones, McLean pitched to a 0.82 ERA with 30 strikeouts and two earned runs allowed in 22 innings pitched. As a hitter, the Mets number 19 prospect via MLB Pipeline was leading the team in home runs (5) and slugging percentage (.552) as well as collecting 13 RBI and 12 extra base hits in just under 70 at-bats.
